The TERENA General Assembly (GA) has discussed and adopted the Activity Plan and the budget for 2014 at its meeting in Geneva on 21-22 October.

The Activity Plan calls for additional work in the area of AAI (authorisation and authentication infrastructures). The General Assembly meeting recognised the strategic importance for TERENA to engage with international user groups, research infrastructures as well as producers and consumers of large data sets, who all require AAI solutions. Related to this, TERENA will continue to build its relationships with international user groups.

The GA was presented with the results from the latest Membership Satisfaction Survey and enjoyed a mini-workshop facilitated by Agathoclis Stylianou (CyNet) on NREN (national research and education networking organisations') support for campus tools, with interesting presentations by Victor Reijs (HEAnet) and Valter Nordh (SUNET).

European Commission Project Officer Bart Van Caenegem presented new information on possible European Union support for procurement of innovative Software Defined Optical Networking technologies.

The GA dinner was hosted by CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. A number of GA delegates visited CERN on 24 October 2013.
