The ninth annual TERENA Compendium of national research and education networks (NRENs) in Europe has been released. The 2009 edition includes data from more than 40 countries across Europe and surrounding regions. Some information about countries from other regions has also been included and more information is available online compared to previous years.
The range of topics surveyed for the Compendium was broad, including service development, the increasing use of fibre optics, staffing and funding, and general information about NRENs. The 2009 edition also gives a more in-depth analysis and interpretation of NREN traffic figures than in past years.
The 2009 Compendium was financially supported by the European Union through the GN3 (GÉANT) project and received input from the project's activity leaders. Production was overseen by an international review panel, TERENA staff and officers.
Printed copies are being sent to participating organisations, TERENA members and policy makers. Additional copies are € 25, excluding post and packaging and can be ordered from TERENA Secretariat.
A pdf version of the Compendium is also available online, as are full details of all NREN survey responses, via TERENA’s Compendium webpage.
