Aim of the event
Historically, IP-based authentication or shared accounts have been common mechanisms to access external resources. These approaches are simplistic and fail when staff, students and researchers are off-campus or need to access collaborative resources intended for an individual user.
Identity Federation allows campus authentication systems to integrate with a wide variety of services on campus, within your country and beyond. However, enabling Identity Federation demands clear Policy document that defines governance, roles, obligation and rights of entities, procedures for membership application and cancelation, liabilities etc. As Identity Federation enables infrastructure that supports transmission of personal information between different administrative domains, and even different countries, special care must be put into writing this document.
This workshop is aimed at enabling NRENs and respective National Identity Federation Operators, to setup Identity Federation Policy document.
Audience:
This EuroCAMP is of most interest to:- Identity Federation Operators and NREN exploring Identity Federation solution for their country and wanting to promote Identity Federation to their connected campus;
- Legal representatives of Identity Federation Operators and NRENs that are involved in writing and implementing Policy documents for NREN services.
