F19. Brief description of the governing structure of the NREN
(in terms of members, governing body, decision making process, etc.)
The highest governing body of CYNET is the Governing Board, which is made up of representatives from Educational, Research, and Government institutions.
It consists of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman, the Treasurer, the Secretary and two Members at large.

The Governing Board is currently chaired by Professor Andreas Pitsillides.

The members of the board are directly assigned based on their position in governmental offices. Members are the Director of the Department of Electronic Communications, the Director of the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, the General Manager of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority, the Director of the Department of Information Technology Services, a professor from the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus and the Director of the Information Systems Services of the University of Cyprus.

The operation of CYNET is managed by the Executive Director.
