  33. In June 2012 Consortium GARR founding members adopted a Statute amendment that introduced new purposes for the Association. The new statutory purposes are:
    facilitating harmonization and cooperation in the field of research through the exploitation of leading-edge e-Infrastructures, both at a national and international level;
    promoting and fostering the development of means to facilitate the exploitation of the cloud and storage resources, both at a national and at international level, by providing the services needed to keep the e-Infrastructure at the international standards.
    As a consequence, in February 2013, the new Distributed Computing and Storage Department was created, besides the Network Departed already extisting.
