  20. Governing structure of HUNGARNET:
General Assembly, President, Executive President, Vice Presidents (Presidential Board), Secretary General + Secretariat.

HUNGARNET closely co-operates with the Hungarian National Information Infrastructure Development (NIIF) Programme that provides the organisational and financial frameworks for developing and maintaining the infrastructure, services, and pilot applications, as well as specific content generation for and within the academic and research community.

The NIIF Programme is executed/co-ordinated by the NIIF Institute (NIIFI), an organisation operating under the umbrella of the government.

The NIIF Programme is governed by a Programme Committee, consisting of high level officers of the participating ministries and some other bodies, including the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The NIIF Programme Committee operates also a Technical Committee.

  34. The organisational and operational embedding and environment of the NIIF Institute under the Ministry of National Development have been further consolidated. Separate operation of NIIFI has been granted. Preparations for co-operation between the NREN and the public administration (government) as well as for integrating the school network (Sulinet) have started and intensely progressed in 2012. More precisely, the 1 January 2013 integration of the, as yet separately operated, school network (primary and secondary schools) into the NREN (NIIF/Hungarnet) has been prepared, similarly to the early 2013 takeover of the complete network of public libraries and to the integration, on fibre level, of the government network witr the NREN (NIIF/Hungarnet).

The 2010-2011 technological reconstruction of our infrastructure (DF network, HPC infrastructure, storage facilities, VC system, etc.) has been fully completed and stabilised.

From 2013 we plan to modernise the facilities and the services of the school network, as well as to improve and extend our HPC and cloud services within NIIF/Hungarnet.
  35. The Compendium has been serving as a major output of TERENA for many years.

It is widely considered an indispensable resource of information about the NRENs and related national infrastructure components, service portfolios, user communities, organisational and financial frameworks, etc.

The tradition of editing and publishing such a high value and highly appreciated collection of important, useful, and well exploitable information is to be continued.
