  20. Since 1 January 2000, BELNET has been organized in the form of a public service with independent management that comes under the Federal Science Policy Office. This specific structure gives BELNET more autonomy to respond quickly to continuous developments in the world of telecommunications and the Internet.

    The organic rules on the financial and material management of BELNET are given in the Royal Decree of 1 February 2000.

    BELNET is managed by its director and the management committee.

  35. In 2009 BELNET launched www.cert.be the Belgian National Computer Emergency Response Team.
    BELNET underwent a substantial increase in personnel to be able to better serve its customers through the new CERT-team and more and better services.
    BELNET further developed the process of moving the demarcation point of its network to towards the customer's premises.
    In 2010 - 2011 BELNET foresees to introduce VoIP to its customers
  36. The financial questions are quite difficult to answer. For instance it is difficult to separate specific NREN information from other data. We are also aware of the difficult interpretation regarding the budget and cost elements in NREN activities. Because we are on a budget based accounting system, certain costs can fluctuate quite heavily from year to year, as implementations come and go.
    We are however fully convinced of the added value of the compendium and the data it provides us, therefore a screening of how each one interprets questions and data can be interesting to make figures even more coherent, for instance by checking NREN by NREN how everyone interprets data.
    Questions B8 & B9 were difficult to understand. How to interpret them?
    We are of-course still interested in receiving the compendium and cooperating to enhance its content.
