    CSC is a not-for-profit company 100% owned and governed by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland. As a limited company, CSC has a Board of Directors (appointed by the shareholders, that is Ministry of Education) and a Managing Director.

  34. The Finnish university system is currently undergoing a largest restructuring process in decades. Some mergers of universities has already occurred and more is ahead. The change has increased a demand for fixed DWDM lightpaths between the new geographically separated university sites.

    Funet started an IRU dark fiber based DWDM network upgrade in 2008 which practically covers the whole network now.

    The renewal of the backbone routers has been finalized and the links between them were upgraded to 10 Gbps. Also network topology was restructured.
  35. The examples "cloud" and "virtual private server" noted under the "Clouds" are technically very different services from each other. Not knowing exactly what is ment by the questions under the "Clouds" makes them difficult to answer.
