  36. • The plan is to provide service resilience (consisting of path, PoP, power and equipment resilience) to the major clients.
    • Procedures will be put in place to determine how to handle the consequences of IPv4 address depletions for HEAnet's services.
Furthermore project plans will be made in 2009 for a) a stand-alone
IPv6 network and b) how to stimulate clients to take up IPv6 (business plans). The implementation of these plans will be in the coming years (aim to make a firm decision on IPv4/6 in 2013).
    • Technical dialogs will be held to compose a CfT (Call for tender) for the replacement of the present optical/Ethernet network (backbone and MANs).
    • A 10 Gbit/s point to point inter-institute network will be created for the use of the e-INIS project: to be used by the National Grid Initiative of Ireland.
    • Roll out of videoconferencing units is progressing and will be extended.
    • Licenses are being sought for regional wireless networks and an investigation around an educational & research broadcast channel (DVB-IPTC- Digital Video Broadcast- Cable, DVB-C – Digital Video Broadcast Cable, DVB-T – Digital Video Broadcast - Terrestrial) has been carried out

  37. The Compendium is a unique and essential source of information. Its currency and integrity are highly valued.
