  36. Red.es/RedIRIS IRIS has launched a 138 M€ project, called RedIRIS NOVA, for the provision of a dark fibre network (including optical equipment) for the next 10/15 years.

Red.es launched a 130 M€ call for tenders (through competitive dialogue) in November 2008. 23 companies presented valid offers and participate at the competitive dialogue. A final decision is expected by approx. September 2009. Additional, smaller tenders might be called afterwards. The winning bidder will have to deploy the requested optical equipment and network before October 2011, when the current RedIRIS-10 contract expires.
