Our governing body consists of representatives from education, research and government agencies.
D.21 Description of the governing structure of the NREN
The highest governing body of CyNet is the Governing Board, which is made up of representatives from educational, research, and government institutions.
It consists of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman, the Treasurer, the Secretary and two Members at large.

The Governing Board is currently chaired by Professor Andreas Pitsillides.

The members of the board are directly assigned based on their possition in govermental offices. Members are the director of the Department of Electronic Communications, the director of the Cyprus Research Foundation, the director of the Cyrpus Telecomunications Authority, the director of the Department of Information Technology Services, one professor from the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus and the director of the Information Systems Services of the University of Cyprus.

The operation of CyNet is managed by the Executive Director.

As the EUMEDCONNECT project came to its completion, CyNet maintains its two GEANT2 connections for international connectivity whilst providing transit services to the Syrian NREN for connection to GEANT2 via CyNet and the EUMEDCONNECT PoP hosted at CyNet.
