D.21 Description of the governing structure of the NREN
The JNT Association is a company limited by guarantee. Its board of directors is made up of non executive directors chosen by the major higher and further education funding bodies within the United Kingdom and the Chief Executive, Finance Director and Chief Technology Officer.

The JNT Association is funded primarily by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) to provide the operation, management and development of JANET, the UK's education and research network. Other funding comes from the connections to the network, Becta, the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the Department for children, schools and families and other public bodies.

Additional services added to the portfolio included JANET Txt service. We have undertaken a number of framework procurements which will benefit the UK's education and research community.

The JANET Talk trial has been launched.
Third Party services have been launched.
We now allow commercial organisations to connect Halls of Residence over JANET.

The further education funding council has agreed to provide the capital funding to upgrade the connection of English Further Education Colleges beyond 10Mbit/s. This is a major upgrade programme.

The questionnaire would have been easier to fill in if ALL the old data had been present.

There is a problem with the questionnaire. If your connection times out you cannot get back into the system which is frustrating. You also end up losing data.
