    5. Governing structure of HUNGARNET:
General Assembly, President, Executive President, Vice Presidents (Presidential Board), Secretary General + Secretariat.

HUNGARNET closely co-operates with the Hungarian National Information Infrastructure Development (NIIF) Programme that provides the organisational and financial frameworks for developing and maintaining the infrastructure, services, and pilot applications, as well as specific content generation for and within the academic and research community.

The NIIF Programme is executed/co-ordinated by the NIIF Institute (NIIFI), an organisation operating under the umbrella of the government.

The NIIF Programme is governed by a Programme Committee, consisting of high level officers of the participating ministries and some other bodies, including the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The NIIF Programme Committee operates also a Technical Committee.

    12. 1. NIIFI has earlier been operating under the umbrella of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, anbd later the Ministry of Economy and Transport for several years. From April-May 2008 the structure of the Hungarian Government has changed. Since then, NIIFI is operating under the umbrella of the Office of the Prime Minister.

      2. The research network in Hungary has been continuously developing during the last several years (backbone and access network extensions and upgrades + international connectivity upgrade to GEANT+). No considerable changes in organisational structure and mandate are foreseen for 2008-2009, while a considerable technical development (reconstruction and upgrade of the internal NIIF/Hungtarnet network) is planned for 2008-2010. No remarkable change in the user base is forecasted.
    13. Let our last year comment/suggestion be repeated here: Perhaps a well defined procedure might be established for enabling continuous/occasional updating of the related Compendium pages by the NRENs so that changes in their important parameters (eg. postal and e-mail addresses, phone numbers, names of contact persons, etc.) are made available immediately as such changes occur and also the TERENA member pages are corrected, if necessary, in case of such updates.
