Registration open for 2015 Network Performing Arts Production workshop

Registration is open for the eighth Network Performing Arts Production (NPAP) workshop, which will be held on 4-6 May 2015 in London, UK. The workshop's programme is more advanced than previous events in the series and will build on the basic knowledge and skills acquired there or by using the learning materials. The NPAP workshops facilitate outreach to new user communities in the arts and humanities areas, particularly by demonstrating the use of research networks in supporting real-time musical, dance and other artistic performances. Participants learn about and use cutting-edge distance-education technology and explore new ways of incorporating audio and visual technology in performances.

The workshop will be coordinated by Internet2 and the GÉANT Association's Amsterdam office (formerly TERENA), with additional technical expertise provided by GARR, the Italian NREN, and CSUC, which manages the regional network in Catalonia. Hosted by the prestigious Royal College of Music and supported by the UK's national research and education network (NREN) organisation Janet, the two-day programme will be packed with action for participants.

Each day of the workshop will consist of several 90-minute sessions, consisting of live (music/dance/theatre) performances that make use of the latest insights, tools and techniques in the areas of high-speed and low latency networking, followed by discussion and questions.

The programme includes a cocktail reception on the Monday evening and a live public performance by students from the Royal College of Music on the Tuesday evening, which will serve as a showcase of high-tech networking and performing arts in synergy. These events are included in the workshop registration fee. It is also possible to buy an 'accompanying person' ticket for these social events (workshop participation not included).
