Registration open for first meeting of new task force - TF-WebRTC

A new task force has been created to focus on Web Real Time Communications (WebRTC) issues. The first meeting of TF-WebRTC will be held on 15 December 2014, hosted by RENATER in Paris, France. The agenda will allow time for team building as well as for knowledge sharing, according to the chair, Mihály Mészáros (NIIF). Registration is now open.

This kick-off meeting of TF-WebRTC is planned so that participants can also visit the WebRTC Conference Expo 2014, which will be held on 16-18 December in the Marriott Paris Rive Gauche Hotel and Conference Centre.

The aim of the task force is twofold: to build a community in the lead up to start of a WebRTC task in the GÉANT Project (GN4), planned to start in April 2015; and to provide a longer-term open collaboration platform where organisations and individuals can collaborate regarding Web-RTC technology, applications and services. The task force can also serve as the public face of the GN4 task.

TF-WebRTC is established under the auspices of the GÉANT Association Technical Programme and the GÉANT Association Technical Committee is set to approve its terms of reference on 5 November 2014. The task force will provide a forum for exchanging and promoting ideas, experience and knowledge, as well as fostering collaborations among National Research and Education Network (NREN) organisations and academic and research institutions on web-real time communication solutions, services, developments and deployments.
