Collaboration on community CRM agreed at TERENA workshop

A collaborative effort to develop and share modules of CRM (customer relationship management) software was agreed upon at the TERENA Workshop on CRM Systems in the NREN Community that was held on 6-7 February in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Several European NRENs (national research and education networking organisations) have already begun exploring the use of open-source CRM solutions, and it was agreed by the workshop participants that efforts to develop and exchange modules will be coordinated. The Community Platform run by Janet (UK) will be used to provide a space where follow up collaboration can take place.

The workshop

The workshop on CRM systems in the NREN Community featured discussion and presentations highlighting the experiences of organisations in Europe and the USA, covering questions of development, usage and introduction into the organisation, as well as some technical considerations.

The workshop was organised by TF-MSP, the TERENA Task Force on Management of Service Portfolios and was hosted by SURFnet, the Dutch NREN. Almost 40 people from around 25 organisations participated.
