Registration open for Barcelona workshop on networks for performing arts
Auditorium in Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona

Building on the success of previous workshops, the third European Network Performing Arts Production workshop will be held on 15-17 June 2011 in Barcelona, Spain. It will focus on the technology requirements for performing arts education, multi-site performance events, and high quality netcasting over advanced research networks.

Hosted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona with support by RedIRIS, the Spanish national research and education network (NREN) and the Supercomputing Centre of Catalonia (CESCA), the workshop will include a mix of hands-on audio and video production techniques and presentations for those interested in the technical aspects of producing high quality network performing arts events.

This event will provide attendees the opportunity to 'learn, touch and play' with diverse solutions as well as understand more about the network performing arts scene. Participants will learn how audiovisual and network transmissions can support teaching, auditions and remote performances, see demonstrations of various tools and applications and enjoy live performances such as a masterclass with the New World Symphony and a performance by dancers in Brazil and Barcelona.

Who will benefit

If you are in the research and education community and produce performing arts events (academies or colleges of music, dance, arts etc.) and want to explore the possibilities and challenges of using advanced research networks services in your teaching, rehearsals and performances, please join us for this workshop.

People involved in audio / video production in other domains are also welcome to join and will surely benefit from the workshop presentations and practical hands-on sessions.

The workshop will also be of interest to NRENs and other regional education networks whose constituencies may have a need to transmit high-end audiovisual productions.

The Networking Performing Arts workshops are run on a cost recovery basis, therefore a nominal registration fee of €200 will be charged. Additional options for an evening social event and a city tour are also available for a small additional charge.

Online registration is now open on the workshop website.
