Registration is open for the upcoming NRENs and Grids workshop

The European Grid Initiative (EGI) Technical Forum 2010 will set the stage for the 9th TERENA NRENs and Grids workshop, on 15 September 2010 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The workshop will take place on the second day of the Technical Forum (14-17 September) and will focus on the progress made in Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Grid federations, policy issues and Virtual Organisations (VOs) for authentication and authorisation infrastructures (AAI).

The EGI Technical Forum will bring together distributed computing projects and their collaborators in academia and business, from around Europe and around the world. This presents the national research and education networking (NREN) community an ideal opportunity to highlight its federation activities to the Grid community, and to encourage collaboration and cooperation in user and group management systems.

NRENs and Grids workshop presentations include:

  • David Simonsen (WAYF.dk) - "State of the SAML federation landscape - moving closer to the Grids": an outline of how the citizen login service in Denmark is being used to provide higher Levels of Assurance (LoA) identities and how this enables Grid certificates to be issued via the TERENA Certificate Service (TCS).
  • David Kelsey (STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) - "Policy issues for identity management (and other attributes, too)": an overview of the Grid community and its relevance to federated services.
  • SWITCHaai - "AAI-enabled VO Platform": developed by a joint AAI/SAML and Grid project team within the Swiss NREN, SWITCH.
  • Diego Lopez (RedIRIS) - "perfSONAR + SIR federation": How perfSONAR has been integrated into the Spanish Identity Federation (SIR).

Target audience

This workshop is suited for Grid and federation developers, end users, resource providers and decision makers interested in Grid/SAML federation cross-over and learning from the experiences of both communities.
