Here is where I am a bit worried. Most SDOs are meritocracies
and putting a face on group opinions almost _never_ works unless
the community recognizes you as being either a big vendor or a
big customer.

Stefan Winters much cited success at pushing RadSec (I'll admit
I was pessimistic about this) in the IETF was *entirely* due to
his easily recognizable technical skills and the fact that he
picked just the right time to present a viable alternative to

Using REFEDS as a way to discuss and prep will probably be a
good idea If we keep in mind that the rest of the industry
won't wait for us to figure out what we want.

Also - lets not forget about (my hobby horse) IPR protection

I agree 100%. Right now NORDUnet is having an internal discussion
about comitting at a sponsor level.
