Hi Leif

I think the points you make a very reasonable but I think they are symptomatic of where we are trying to get.

I entirely agree we should be looking to other groups and it would probably be helpful if we associate these to the roadmap as it is reviewed (i.e. Moonshot to IETF, eduid to Kantara login experience, all of us to kantara interop). I think what we can achieve by being a little more formal with working groups and a working group leader is to make sure that happens. So it is up to me to make sure that we fully engage with kantara login, up to josh to work with the ietf etc.

What I also think we are trying to achieve is at least some level of consensus as a group before we go to these other places to give us a stronger voice. So it is not just feide or wayf or the uk fed approaching people but refeds.

As you say, let's give it a try and see :)

I guess I should speak up since It was entirely reasonable to
think that I am negative to REFEDS... So here I go:

I would like for the educational community to have more impact
on the rest of the world. Things that worry me about the current proposals:

- - Money complicates things. I think we're underestimating by just
how much.

- - GLIF is often cited as a model activity. However GLIF mostly
seems to be mostly a discussion community much like REFEDS is
today, also the level of engagement is ~1/3 of the levels
suggested for REFEDS.

- - Our points-of-engagements are increasingly not just in the edu-
arena. I don't fully believe in the "Lets talk amongst ourselves
first" approach.

Having said that I still think we should probably do what Ken
suggests and try this new model for a while and see where that
leads. I'll do what I can to help.

	Cheers Leif
