5th TF-Media Task Force Meeting and Workshop

The 5th TF-Media task force meeting was held on 27-28 October (Thursday-Friday), 2011, in Oporto, Portugal, kindly hosted by ISEP-IPP (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto) and FCCN, the Portuguese NREN.
A one-day workshop on multi-media platforms, tools, and services was attached to the meeting on 26 October (Wednesday), 2011. Both the workshop and the task force meeting were open and free to attend.

How to get there

- By plane
The Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is a modern infrastructure equipped to cope with the intense air traffic to and from Oporto, located in an important commercial and industrial area (11 km from Oporto center), and providing various services, coffee shops and commerce spots. It has a bus and metro line (Violet/E line, direction Estádio do Dragão) to Oporto which will take approximately 25 min to leave visitors at the city historical centre (Trindade, Aliados or São Bento Metro Stations).

- By car
Oporto's privileged geographic location, complemented by a modern communication network, allows the tourist travelling from Galicia (Spain), Algarve, Lisbon, Coimbra or any other part of Portugal to reach easily the city. You can drive from Galicia to Oporto in two hours and from Oporto to Algarve in five hours. Oporto's road network includes three motorways: A1 to Lisbon, with a connection to Algarve; A3 to Valença (Minho), with a connection to Galicia, and A4 to Amarante (Trás-os-Montes), with a connection to Bragança. You can easily reach Oporto from any place in Portugal thanks to the services provided by Portuguese bus companies, which offer regular connections between cities. Two bus companies, Rodonorte and Eurolines, linking several European countries to Oporto, are available to foreign visitors.

- Railway stations
Campanhã station is located in the eastern side of Oporto. This railway station provides international services, the Alfa Pendular, services between cities and regions, and Regional and Suburban services, which enable the connection to several destinations in the country and abroad. S. Bento station is located in the centre of the city. This railway station provides suburban and regional services, as well as services between regions, which enable the connection to the several destinations in the country. It also offers an international service for Vigo (Spain).

- Getting Around
Several means of public transport are available in Oporto: bus (www.stcp.pt), metro (www.metrodoporto.pt). ISEP is just a 10 min Metro ride from the city historical centre (take Yellow line, direction Hospital São João, leave at IPO Metro station). Taxi and rent-a-car are also options.
