Training and Workshops for advancing NRENs

As part of the GÉANT project, Digital Inclusion (Task NA4/T4), Campus Best Practices (Task NA3/T2) and TERENA Development Support in co-operation with CEENET and EaP countries are involved in organising a series of trainings and workshops aimed at raising staff competences at NRENs and their Members in Eastern Europe. The trainings and workshops are open to all GÉANT participants and specially targeted at Eastern European countries

E-infrastructure Summer Workshops
16 - 20 June, 2014
Sofia, Bulgaria
This important knowledge transfer event is a major component of bridging the digital divide between the academic IT community in Europe. The aim is to educate IT staff from NRENs, institutions and libraries, security personnel and other specialists from Eastern Partnership and neighbour countries on new developments specific to their work areas.The 5-days event will be a mixture of lecturers and hands-on, conducted by leading specialists and experts from both within and outside the community and will be built around three (3) core topics: Security; Services; and Federated Identity.
The event is organised by G√ČANT in conjunction with TERENA, CEENet, BREN and EC Platform 4.

    This workshop aims at training and educating NRENs and their customers personnel (mainly NOCs) in basic techniques on the latest developments in Network Security.
  • GÉANT Services Workshop: BEST PRACTICES IN WIRELESS NETWORKS
    Sofia, 19 June 2014
    wireless crash course aimed at institutional IT-staff will cover the most important aspects of Wi-Fi wireless networks deployment starting from the network planning to the monitoring and user management.
  • FEDERATED IDENTITY TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP
    Sofia, 19-20 June 2014
    This workshop is addressed at NREN and Institutions decision and policy makers (managers, IT leaders), with the main focus on EaP countries. Objective is to educate attendees on the strategic, organisational and management aspects of the identity federation covering policy issues, business case and deployment options related to the development and support of pan-European and Global Identity e-Infrastructures.
