Péter Szegedi (Project Development Officer)

Peter Szegedi is a Project Development Officer at the Amsterdam office of the GÉANT Association - formerly the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association, (TERENA). He joined TERENA in January 2008 to support task forces and contribute to the technical programme. His role has recently been extended to be the member of the Management Team and contribute to policy definition and implementation.

Peter is currently the secretary of three task forces; TF-Storage (data storage), TF-NOC (network operation centres) and TF-WebRTC (web real time communications), as well as the coordinator of activities relating to network architects, performing arts, multimedia management and real-time communications related activities. Peter also looks after the NRENum.net service (the global ENUM service for academia) and the Open Educational Resource (OER) portal pilot. He is currently the task leader of the EC-funded GN3plus project Testbed as a Service activity. Peter has recently got his ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.

Peter Szegedi received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, in Hungary, in 2002. He then worked towards a PhD at the Department of Telecommunications. Peter worked for Magyar Telekom Plc. (the largest incumbent service provider in Hungary) as a Research and Development Manager between 2004 and 2008. Peter is married and he has two boys Daniel (2005) and Balint (2009).
