Sigita Jurkynaitė is a part-time Project Management Assistant at the Amsterdam office of the GÉANT Association - formerly the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association, (TERENA). She joined TERENA in May 2014.

Born in Lithuania, Sigita moved to the UK, where she studied Music Technology at the University of Bedfordshire and worked as a Customer Service Assistant at London Luton Airport. Sigita completed part of her second bachelor degree at the University of Toronto, focusing on Slavic languages and culture.

While studying at AUC, Sigita worked as a Management Assistant at the Marketing, Communication and Internationalisation Department of Amsterdam University College, promoting AUC and student mobility. After graduating she started working as an Executive Assistant at the Embassy of Lithuania to the Netherlands in the Hague. Working at the Embassy during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, she contributed to organising various events, including high-level meetings, discussions, small to large scale cultural and social events.

Sigita spends her spare time volunteering at cinema and media festivals in Amsterdam and contributing to various community activities and development projects. Although scared of flying, she likes travelling, learning new languages and getting to knowing different cultures.
