Licia Florio (Project Development Officer)

Licia Florio is a Project Development Officer at the Amsterdam office of the GÉANT Association - formerly the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association, (TERENA). Licia joined TERENA in October 2001 to support Task Forces and contribute to technical projects. Together with Brook Schofield and Nicole Harris, she is currently responsible for the middleware area of work.

Since 2009, Licia is working on the GÉANT project where she leads the Joint Research Activity on 'Multidomain User Application Research' also known as JRA3 and the eduPKI service.

JRA3 aims to enhance the federated framework to enable users to access a variety of applications that run beyond the web space. Part of the research work carried out in JRA3 focuses on adding Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) features to the federated framework to create a new architecture to define, discover, access and combine services in the GÉANT multi-domain environment.

eduPKI Service aims to enable trust establishment in GÉANT services mostly by usage of X.509 certificates that are provided by federating existing certificates services offered by the NRENs. eduPKI offers support for GÉANT services to help them defining their trust requirements and categorise them into trust profiles.

Licia is also responsible for REFEDS and related activities.

Licia is also involved in REFEDS (Research and Education Federations), whose mission is to become the voice that articulates the mutual needs of research and education identity federations worldwide.

Licia graduated in Computer Science at the University of Bologna. In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis and scuba diving.
