Mirko Ampt (Assistant Bookkeeper)

Mirko Ampt is a part-time Assistant Bookkeeper in the Amsterdam office of the GÉANT Association - formerly the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association, (TERENA). Mirko joined TERENA in September 2010.

Mirko grew up on the island of Texel, to the north of the Netherlands. Like all other young adult islanders, he moved to the mainland after secondary school - to study Bookselling and Publishing at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, graduating in 1999.

In 2000, through a friend, Mirko found a job in financial administration, which he enjoyed so much that he continued to work in this field. From 2006 to 2010 Mirko did the bookkeeping for the Amsterdam-based advertising company 'Usual Suspects'. Feeling that it was time for a new job in different surroundings, Mirko moved to TERENA. He finds TERENA's work interesting because it involves the development of Internet technology and infrastructure.

In his free time Mirko likes to take photos of graffiti - not just 'documentary' style, but he focuses on details and in that way creates his own work. The Texel influence is still noticeable: although Mirko likes to live in the big city of Amsterdam he also likes to escape to the beach and dunes of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal for a nice walk.
