Second Authentication and Authorisation Workshop
Authentication and Authorisation Workshop,
20-21 November 2003,
Malaga
The first Authentication and Authorisation (AA) workshop was held in Stockholm in November 2002. It aimed at describing the local Authentication and Authorisation systems developed and deployed in the NRENs in Europe. Some interoperability issues were tackled also. In many countries in Europe AA systems are already in place and in same cases same of them can interoperate with others.
New technologies, like Grid, high bandwidth usage, the GEANT2 project, the roaming of the users, ask more and more for an AA
infrastructure, which works not only at national level, but in a broader contest, such European level.
The second AA Workshop, organised
by TERENA and RedIRIS and
hosted by the University of Malaga, School of Computer Engineering
under the umbrella of TF-AACE
(TERENA Task
Force focused on Authentication and Authorisation Coordination
in Europe) provided an overview
about Authentication and Authorisation (AA) techniques and their applications in different fields.
The workshop also provided inputs for discussions to explore the future of the AA activities in Europe, whether this will move towards a federation model or a new infrastructure will be built on top of what already exists.
A report of the workshop is available here.
