WPA and WPA2 in eduroam for Vista

Hi all,
  there is one small thing that came out of a conversation a had with
Stefan.
First, I can confirm that using XML WLAN profiles it is possible to
create two working Vista profiles - one for WPA/TKIP, the other for
WPA2/AES. This is probably no news, at least to some of you. I have also
observed that the same can be done by hand, just using the standard
Vista wireless manager.

You just need to manually add the profile twice. There is one thick, you
need to use. Vista names the profile with the SSID and you cannot add
another profile eduroam if you already have one. So you already havve
eduroam, say with WPA/TKIP, you go to "managing of wireless networks"
choose eduroam, press F2 and rename the profile to eduroam-tkip. This
changes the name of the profile, but not the SSID. Next you manually add
eduroam and choose WPA2/AES. You can then again rename the profile to
eduroam-aes if you like.

If you have two profiles, then Vista will display them both, when it
sees eduroam, but if this particular eduroam network only supports one
cipher, one of the networks will be shown as unavailable. Of course both
profiles can be marked as automatic and then one of them will be used,
depending on the particular situation.

If you do that for either TLS or TTLS/SecureW2, then connection to the
second profile is automatic. However with PEAP I could not avoid getting
asked for my credentials for the second time (only once, of course).

There is some chance that Tom Rixom could make it possible to create
such two profiles in the installer of SecureW2. I think this would be
quite cool.

Unfortunately there seems to be no chance that this stuff would work
under Windows XP.
