It is a well known fact that running WPA and WPA2 in parallel makes life difficult for windows Mobile devices.
We have just made a test on our Meru and have found out that if we run both WPA and WPA2 on one BSSID then only WPA2 seems to work and WPA does not work for any device at all. On the other hand if we run them on separate BSSIDs, so in fact run two virtual cells in parallel (but on the same channel and same SSID), then all devices, including Windows Mobile seem to work just fine. WPA2/AES is set up on WPA2 devices, which configure the network automatically, but WPA/TKIP works just as well.
I wonder if the same is possible on other devices - running same SSID on separate BSSIDs.
