1st E2E Workshop - Establishing Lightpaths
1-2 December 2008
The 1st TERENA Workshop on End-to-End Provisioning involves key players from national research and education networking organisations, metropolitan, campus and local networking organisations, and gathers together people who can share expertise and experience in establishing real end-to-end connection services for universities and research labs in Europe. Together they will help shape the way that end-to-end provisioning is tackled in the future.
Target audience
If you are a campus or research centre network or system administrator or manager, an NREN representative, vendor, service provider or IT specialist, your participation is very welcome.
Venue
The workshop will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in the historical building 'Beurs van Berlage'.

Questions?
If you have any questions about the scope and nature of this workshop please do not hesitate to drop us an email.
We have listed some of the questions we have already received below:
- Will the workshop cover all types of end-to-end services or only end-to-end connectivity using light paths?
- In the context of this workshop, a lightpath can be a Gigabit Ethernet connection or even a transparent lambda. So, in a general sense all types of end to end connection services will be covered.
- What level of expertise/knowledge is expected from the participants?
- System and network administrators and managers are targeted, who have deep knowledge in L2/3 and above, but do not know much about how to set-up an e2e connection via the NRENs and GEANT2.
- Can the workshop be considered as 'initiation' about end-to-end services or rather as an occasion for sharing experiences between more 'experimented' R&E institutions on this terrain?
- The first day of the workshop will be more focused on knowledge dissemination about existing solutions and tools, the second day is more about sharing experiences and discussing the potential coordination challenges among the participants who already have some expertise.
