TRANSITS Courses

How to apply to attend the TRANSITS Courses

For obvious reasons, we ask that any applicant to a TRANSITS course undergoes a strict vetting procedure prior to being accepted to the course. The details of the information we require is included on the specific course's pages.

Pre-requisites

Trainees are typically experienced system, network or IT managers. (Interested persons from other backgrounds are welcome to contact the organisers to discuss the suitability of the course for them). They are expected to have an awareness of the security issues involved in connecting computers to the Internet. They must be committed to using their skills to improve the security of computers and networks. For the technical side of the course, familiarity with the normal operation of TCP/IP networks, addresses, port numbers and protocols will be assumed.

Timing and programme

For specific timings and dates, you should check the webpages of the workshop you are applying for. The workshops usually start at 9:00 hours on day one and finish on at 22:00 hours on day two. Participants are therefore expected to arrive at the workshop venue on the previous evening before 20:00, when course materials will be handed out and welcome drinks offered. Participants are expected to leave the workshop venue on the morning of the day after the last day of the course. Accommodation costs to allow for this are included in the course fee.

Costs

Participants will be charged a fee for the workshop package, derived from the costs of providing the training. Included in the workshop package are: the course materials, tutoring from experienced CSIRT professionals, accommodation, meals and refreshments.
