5th TF-Storage Meeting

The TERENA task force on storage (TF-Storage) coordinates the development of open and inter-operable data storage and management infrastructures and services among national research and education networks and academic and research institutions.

The 5th TF-Storage meeting will be held on 4-5 March 2010, in Utrecht, The Netherlands, hosted by SURFnet the Dutch NREN. Agenda

This meeting of TF-Storage marks the conclusion of the task force's first two year mandate. TF-Storage will review and re-draft the terms of reference during the meeting.
The first day of the meeting will begin at 13:00 with updates on SURFnet's pilot storage project and on the Czech Republic's national e-infrastructure. The task force's achievements will also be reviewed, including the FileSender project. Task force participants intend to continue activities for another two year term. Plans for the new terms of reference will be introduced and discussed with meeting participants, facilitated by Jan Meijer (UNINETT), the current TF-Storage chair. The second day will focus on particular technical issues and interesting use cases. Participants will learn more about cloud-related initiatives such as the Northern European Cloud project and will be able to participate in talks about future concepts for data centres, trends and technologies.

    Utrecht can be reached from Schiphol airport by train (approximately 30 minutes). Trains leave every 30 minutes from Schiphol. For more information on the trains please consult the Dutch railway system website.

    • The preferred way of connecting is using Global Dialing Scheme (GDS). Your equipment will need to be registered with a gatekeeper that is able to resolve GDS numbers. If you use GDS, dial 0031800100002.
    If you are not able to use GDS, you can first connect directly to the SURFnet High Definition MCU at HDMCU1.surfnet.nl. Once connected, enter 00002# as the conference ID.
    The conference can accommodate a maximum of 7 participants.
