The Case for NRENs
The Case for NRENs document was developed during 2008 after requests from the TERENA Commubity Membership. The first complete version was published on 22 January 2009.
Since its completion over two years ago, the world has changed quite markedly. Many services traditional provided by NRENs and/or academic/research insitutions are now available free of charge at the point of devlivery from commodity suppliers.
High throughput links, once the province of specialist high end-users are now available from much more easily
With these developments in mind, a new edidition of the Case for NRENs will be developed during 2011.
The Case for Research and Education Networking
The document: "The case for research and education networking" was put online by DANTE staff in April 2011. The question of what research and education (R&E) networks are and how they work is often raised. There is particular interest in understanding the benefits that research and education networking brings to its users, its funders and to individual institutions. A panel of DANTE people got together to shed some light on these important questions.
