Partner Services Promotion
TERENA leads the GN3 project's Partner Services Promotion (PSP) task, which was a brand new addition since GN2. PSP helps NRENs develop and carry out their plans to promote GÉANT-related end user services, by creating or adapting materials, by exchanging ideas, experience and expertise, and by providing manpower and other resources.
What can PSP do for you?
Please make use of PSP 'as a service' to:
- help you think through, develop and implement communication plans and specific promotional campaigns;
- help you adapt existing promotional materials to suit your needs, or develop new ones for specific target audiences and purposes;
- help to supply manpower and other resources such as design expertise;
- help to exchange ideas, experience and expertise.
Which services can PSP help to promote?
So far we've identified:
- eduroam: (download and adapt the promotional materials from: http://www.eduroam.org/index.php?p=media)
- connectivity services: (point-to-point 'lightpaths', bandwidth-on-demand etc: video concept in development)
- eduGAIN: (PSP focus is to help NRENs (federations) grow the number of identity providers and service providers in their federation by promoting the benefits of inter-federation)
- educonf: (PSP to play a role in supporting certification of institutions by NRENs)
- PERTs (performance enhancement response teams)
How does PSP work?
Partner Services Promotion is here to be used. It doesn't matter whether or not you can contribute to the collaborative parts of the work, you are still very welcome to make use of the products of the work and PSP 'as a service' in other ways, as much as you need.
Whether you require support with planning and carrying out a whole campaign, or want ideas for a single leaflet, please do contact us. We'll discuss the options, requirements, deadlines, priorities and resources and come to an agreement about what we can offer - perhaps even over and above your original expectations.
The PSP team will work with you on development and implementation, and where possible on monitoring the effects. Lessons learned will be used to improve the PSP process and the promotional products in subsequent work.
Working / Consulting Groups
Where several NRENs are interested in receiving support on the same topic, PSP will facilitate and participate in groups that collaborate on developing plans, materials and ideas for promotional work. PR-communications staff form a 'working group' to do the creative work and technical / managerial staff form a 'consultation group' that provides feedback, so helping to ensure that what is produced is accurate and appropriate. The products form a promotional 'toolkit' for the service.
Toolkits
Many NRENs already have promotional materials regarding their services, including eduroam, PERTs and lightpaths. Many have kindly agreed to share these materials and their expertise with other NRENs and with PSP to create a 'toolkit' of images, messages, brochures etc. that can be readily adapted to suit the needs of particular countries or target audiences. In addition, other materials are created or developed by the working groups and consultation groups.
The toolkit materials are available for any NREN to use and adapt to their own needs, whether or not they have participated in the collaborative part of the work.
The PSP team facilitates this exchange of ideas and materials, and can provide some time and other resources to help develop and deploy the materials.
