Venue

The Rectorado is located in the Old Central Post Office Building (Correos in local parlance) at Paseo del Parque, just in the heart of Malaga city, beside the main Tourist Office and very close to the Town Hall (el Ayuntamiento). The official address is Avenida Cervantes 3, but that is just another name for the side road of "El Parque" that goes towards the east side of the city. (see map)

The bus from the airport stops on the opposite side of "El Parque". Almost any bus line stops in front of el Rectorado, on either side of "El Parque" or about 3 minutes walk in the nearby Alameda. The main bus lines are 11, for the eastern side, 4 and 31 for the western side, 14 and 20 for the northwest and 1 for the northern side of the city.

  • Bus fare single ticket: €1 (the driver collects the money and has change up to €5)
  • Bus card for 10 trips: €5.90
  • Train from Airport to Malaga Centro every 30 minutes €1.10 euro one way ticket Mon-Fri, €1.20 Sat/Sun

Taxi

You can also reach the town centre by taxi of course, it is around 8km and will cost €25-30.

Places of interest

There are many interesting places within walking distance from el Rectorado, such as the Alcazaba (Moorish palace), the Roman theatre ruins, the Cathedral with its two organs, or the Roman port inside the building itself.
