NRENs and Grids Workshop, Amsterdam, Thursday 12 May 2005
Introduction
TERENA hosted an NRENs and Grids Workshop on Thursday 12 May 2005, in Amsterdam. The purpose of this one day meeting was to discuss and evaluate the implications of Grid Services on network provision in our community.
Objectives
The main objectives of the day were to:
- Exchange information on current practice
- Reach a common understanding about the likely impact of Grids on NRENs
- Consider which initiatives and/or projects we need to engage with
- To compile a list of potential action points if necessary
Agenda
The morning session consisted of six presentations covering technical aspects and solutions for Grids - These will be given by members of the NREN community. One Grid project will also present their views on its relationship to the European NRENs.

- Network Monitoring for Grid Users - Ludek Matyska (CESNET)
- Security Incident Handling - Ian Neilson (CERN)
- Network Infrastructure - Peter Stefan (NIIF/Hungarnet)
- The EGEE Project and its relationship to NRENs - Matthieu Goutelle (EGEE Project)
