4th TF-Media Task Force Meeting and Open Video Worshop

Please note that SURFnet is organising a one-day open workshop titled "MediaMosa Community Day Expertiseseminar MediaMosa, Weblectures & Open Video" on the day before the TF-Media meeting (29 March, 2011). The seperate agenda and registartion pages are available on the SURFnet website.

Utrecht can be reached from Schiphol airport by train (approximately 30 minutes). Trains leave every 30 minutes from Schiphol. For more information on the trains please consult the Dutch railway system website.

Social events
There will be a social dinner on both Tuesday, March 29 as well as on Wednesday, March 30. On Thursday March 31 there will be an optional tour to the Dutch Sound and Vision Institute in Hilversum.
Tuesday, March 29
The Tuesday dinner will be arranged in a Greek style Taverna in the center of Utrecht, about 10 min. walk from the SURFnet office. Dinner will start at 19.00 hrs. This dinner is for your own cost. Bring a 50 euro note with you. That should cover the costs.

Dinner Cruise through the canals of Utrecht
A trip to Utrecht is not complete without a sightseeing cruise through the famous canals. During this two-hour cruise a delicious Italian buffet is served including drinks (beer, wine, soda's, coffee, tea). The dinner cruise will depart at 19.00 hrs. from the "Oudegracht" in the centre of Utrecht (10 mins. Walk from the SURFnet office) and will be back at the same place at 21.00 hrs.
This dinner cruise is offered by SURFnet. Just bring your camera.

Sound and Vision Media Experience
The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision looks after, and provides access to 70% of the Dutch audio-visual heritage. In total, around 700,000 hours of television, radio, music and film, making Sound and Vision one of the largest audio-visual archives in Europe.
Sound and Vision is the business archive of the national broadcasting corporations, a cultural heritage institute (providing access to students and the general public) and also a museum for its visitors. On this optional tour we will visit the "Media Experience". From the SURFnet office we will take the train to HILVERSUM NOORD. This train will depart from Utrecht Central, platform 3 at 14:38 and will arrive at Hilversum Noord at 15.01. Just a short walk will bring us to the Sound and Vision building, wrapped in a luxurious skin of colourful cast-glass panels.
