GRNET (Greek Research and Technology Network - the Greek NREN) and TERENA are organising a workshop on topics related to academic media casting, to be held on the 18th of March 2010 in Athens, Greece. Community projects and initiatives are invited to present their work; technical issues and other aspects of academic media management and distribution will also be discussed with participants. The workshop targets both the local Greek community, task force members, as well as a broader audience aiming to raise awareness on these topics and attract participation in the task force activities. TERENA seizes the unique opportunity to co-locate the 1st TF-Media task force meeting with this workshop, both hosted by GRNET.

1st TF-Media meeting, 18-19 March 2010
A task force is established under the auspices of the TERENA Technical Programme to collect ideas, knowledge and experiences about technical, administrative, and legal aspects of federated multimedia production, management and distribution services on a pan-European scale. The Task Force on Media Management and Distribution will explore the architectures, workflow processes and functionalities of different media management and distribution systems and services, as well as the possibility to federate media repositories (i.e., providing federated access and also the federation of content) at the European level.
