Welcome

CAMP (Campus Architecture Middleware Planning) workshops have been taking place in the United States for a few years now and TERENA has followed the example by organising similar events in Europe. TERENA will organise a further CAMP event in Europe on 3rd-5th April 2006 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, hosted by ARNES (the Slovenian National Research and Education Network).

Aim of the event

Various NRENs in Europe are developing and deploying core middleware, like identity management and single sign-on systems, which they offer to their user organisations. Nevertheless, is at the campus level where these systems are put into practice, enabling integrated mechanisms for network and application access.

The availability of such campus infrastructure is required in order to handle not only authentication/authorisations of the user whose identity is known at the campus, but also the identity of those users that belong to other campuses and that need to use a resource on a temporary basis. Students, for example, are nowadays able to follow courses in different faculties, or they are able to access data stored in different databases available at different locations.

The Third EuroCAMP focused on both internal and external interoperability issues related to the installation and deployment of those technologies needed to implement authentication and authorisation infrastructures at the campus level.

Who should attend

IT managers and practitioners of academic and research institutions operating, deploying, developing or planning campus-wide AA infrastructures, directories, e-science and e-learning environments, etc. If you have attended a previous EuroCAMP you will be interested in this one as well.
