In this section, reference is made to the various levels of education. We are using the ISCED classification scheme; more information about this scheme is here. Roughly speaking, 'University' level is equivalent to ISCED levels 5 and 6; 'higher/further education' is equivalent to ISCED level 4; 'secondary education' corresponds to ISCED levels 2 and 3 and 'primary education' to ISCED level 1.

1.1Estimate of the percentage of the institutions in each category that are served by the NREN (note that it is possible that not all institutions receive the same services)

Type of institution Allowed to serve this type of institution? % of all institutions of this type served by the NREN
Universities (x)Yes ( )No 100.0
Institutes of higher/further education (x)Yes ( )No 100.0
Research institutes (x)Yes ( )No 100.0
Secondary schools (x)Yes ( )No 95.0
Primary schools (x)Yes ( )No 90.0
Libraries, Museums, National Archives (x)Yes ( )No 90.0
Hospitals (other than University hospitals) ( )Yes (x)No
Government departments (national, regional, local) (x)Yes ( )No 1.0
Others (x)Yes ( )No

If you connect others, please specify who (companies, individuals, etc.)
Arnes also provides direct access for individual users from R&E institutions.

1.2Does the NREN have a Connection Policy on its website? (x)Yes ( )No
URL: http://www.arnes.si/dostop/dostop_kriteriji.htm
1.3Does the NREN have an Acceptable Use Policy? (x)Yes ( )No
URL: http://www.arnes.si/pravila.htm
Does the AUP describe what is allowed on the network? ( )Yes (x)No
Does the AUP describe what is forbidden on the network? (x)Yes ( )No
Does the AUP have to be signed by each institution that is connected to the network? ( )Yes (x)No
Does the AUP require the connected institutions to designate a person who is in charge of security? ( )Yes (x)No
Does it recommend or require connected institutions to develop their own AUPs (for end users)? ( )Yes (x)No
If yes, URL of an example or model:

1.4Estimate of by what method the different types of institutions are connected to the network
