IdM Workshops Programme

The programme for the IdM workshops has been conceived to cover the following issues:

  • Requirements for IdMs, including decisions about the identity records to collect and their mapping to electronic identities;
  • Identifier assignment and coding schemas for individual data;
  • Usage of directories/databases and their harmonisation;
  • Authentication and Authorisation methods;

The basic programme is described below:

  • Introduction to Identity Management systems
  • Overview of schemas used for IdMs
  • Examples of schemas: eduPerson and family
  • Directories in real life: What do we use directories for?
    How do you store the information into a directory?
    What are the options?
  • Introduction to LDAP
  • Introduction to RADIUS
  • Introduction to Authentication mechanisms, such as LDAP, SASL, PAM, Kerberos, Samba etc)
  • Introduction to Authorisation mechanisms, such as SAML
  • Example of IdMs in real life

The programme might slightly deviate from the proposed version above to better fit audience requirements and pre-knowledge.
