David Kelsey (Member)

Dr David Kelsey is Head of particle physics computing at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK.

A physicist by training, his interest in networking started with his leadership of the UK HEP DECnet network in the late 1980's and throughout the 1990's, including leading its migration to DECnet/OSI Phase V.

He chaired the European HEP DECnet committee for several years. He has held security related responsibilities within various Grid projects over the last 7 years, starting with the creation of the EU Certification Authorities Coordination Group in 2001.

This subsequently led to the formation of the EUGridPMA and the International Grid Trust Federation. He is PI of the GridPP project at RAL and currently chairs the Joint Security Policy Group, creating Grid security policy for EGEE, the US Open Science Grid, the Nordic Grid and other infrastructures.

He has a first degree (Natural Sciences, Physics and Theoretical Physics) from Trinity College, University of Cambridge and a PhD in Experimental Particle Physics from the University of Birmingham.
