Anthony Hodge (Communications Officer)

Anthony Hodge joined TERENA in October 2011 and his responsibilities include writing and editing news reports and publications for print, coordinating publicity materials at events and contributing to the work of the GN3 project’s Partner Services Promotion team, which assists national research and education networks with their plans to promote multi-domain services to end users.

Anthony’s career path began in the library world where he worked from age 17 at the central Phoenix Public Library shelving books, years later to handle public relations for the library and its collection. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1999 with a bachelor degree in political science and campaign management, which he later applied in marketing and communications roles. In 2004 he completed a Master university program in European Public Affairs at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, which was partially given at the European Institute of Public Administration.

After this study, Anthony returned to the library world as a Marketing Communications Manager for a Dutch library software company that would later alter the public and academic library realm with their groundbreaking technology. Anthony then moved to managing marketing and communications teams for two major Dutch publishing houses with operations across Europe. After successfully opening, running and selling his own lounge bar in the centre of Amsterdam, he is now back in communications and at TERENA.

Anthony was born to an American father and a Dutch mother and spent his youth traveling between the US and the Netherlands and speaks Dutch fluently. Living in the Netherlands full-time for nearly 10 years now, Anthony spends much of his free time in the gym or socialising with friends.
