Jim Buddin (Workshop Organiser)
Jim Buddin, born in 1974, is originally from Oxford in the UK and started working for TERENA in December 2004. He originally worked on the Enabling Grids For E-ScienceE (EGEE) Project which concluded in March 2006. When working on EGEE his main responsibility was the coordination of the project conferences. Since April 2006 he has been working as the Workshop Organiser/Project Management Assistant for TERENA.
In this role, Jim supports the Project Development Officers and other TERENA staff in the logistical arrangements of their workshops, meetings and conferences.
In June 2002, Jim graduated from Brunel University in the UK and has a Bachelor of Science in Furniture Production Management, having studied Fine Craftsmanship and Design for two years. During this four-year course, he spent around 12 months on work placements, one of which involved designing and introducing a new preventative maintenance procedure to a production line producing brake pipes for the automotive industry, on which he based his stimulating third year dissertation. To this day he refers to it whenever he is deprived of sleep.
After completing University, Jim moved to Brighton in the UK where he spent five years as a Project Manager for a small mechanical and electrical contractors, managing high value contracts for some well known 'blue chip' clients. During this time, he studied Contracting Management to HND level.
Jim moved to Amsterdam in the Autumn of 2004. He plays guitar, speaks Spanish, a little Dutch, enough French to order drinks and in a short time has emersed himself in Dutch culture by developing a taste for the local delicacies (Heinekin and Amstel) despite the fact it comes in a lady's glass.
